Fireside

William Cullen Bryant was my favorite fireside poet out of all of them was my favorite. He was my favorite because I also fear being alone. Bryant however finds peace in an "after life" where everyone and nature will become one. Your leaving a small party to join a larger one of generations past. I find that very cool and refreshing as do I believe in an after life where I will not be alone. I love that he finds peace in death and does not fear it because you cannot avoid it.

The Devil and Tom Walker vs. The Devil Went Down to Georgia

The Devil and Tom Walker and The Devil Went Down to Georgia are both pieces of American literature that share a story of selling souls. The Devil and Tom Walker is a short story written by Washington Erving. This tells a story of a Boston man selling his soul for money and in the long run the Devil wins and sends him to hell. However, The Devil Went Down to Georgia is a song by The Charlie Daniel's Band where Johnny, a boy from Georgia, is challenged to a fiddle battle by the Devil. Johnny wins with a reward of a fiddle of gold. Although they both follow the Faust legend, the short story tells of grump greedy man who looses his soul and goes to hell. The song however, the Devil looses the battle, his golden fiddle and is not allowed to return to Georgia. Both of these stories share of Satan visiting America, but Washington's story tells of him coming to Boston. In The Devil Went Down to Georgia, Satan visits the Deep South, Georgia. These visitations however, were not close in timing at all. The short story takes place in the eighteenth century. Charlie Daniel's song was released in the laste seventies and appears to be told much more modern. Although these stories have similar characteristics, I see these as two completely different stories, but nevertheless, both very entertaining.

My Hood

If my neighborhood was an animal, it would be a field mouse. It would be a field mouse mouse because I live in the country surrounded by corn fields and the closest "neighbor" I have is five acres away. Field mice mind their own and are rarely seen, just like my neighbors. Like field mice tho, even though you do not see them, you know thy are there. However, my neighbors don't eat my crop.

The Life of a Bryant

Us Bryant's are a special breed. We are independent, wild, loving, and God fearing. We are never bored and always entertained, usually because of something stupid one of us did. I chose to write about them because I love to brag about them because I'm so proud to be a Bryant. I love being raised in a barefoot, redneck, humble, christian family.

10 Skills I Surprisingly Do NOT Have

Psych!! I'm actually skilled in every department. I even have real life skills. However I wish I was learning more about how to grill various types of meat, cure cancer, balance a checkbook, to get out of assignments, conduct a proper interview, jump a battery, change my oil, hot wire a car, put a new transmission in a car, and skin an alligator. these are all skills i do believe i will user after high school and screw paying people to do it. DIY!!!!!!

Rya's Almanac

Good ole' boy Benji Franklin had a lot of good sayings. but my favorite was the one that went a little something like this, "Keep thy shop and thy shop shall keep thee". I value this saying cause it makes me think of my Grandpappy. Grandpappy Jim always told me that if ya work hard, you'll be successful. Grandpappy Jim was a wise man who saw messiah Rya being born in a ghetto and understood the meaning of life.

LISTEN UP

I am a very important person, so everyone listens to me, all the time. So you could say that I am heard by the world on a daily bases. However, if there was one thing in particular they heard me say it would be, pull what ever is up your butt out. Be happy, nice and kind. Life is too short to be mean and to worry about what other people think. Not everyone is going to like you. Not everyone is going to listen to your feelings and take them into consideration. Worry about your self and enjoy the ride we call life.

No Backbone

Persuasion is a true art. Not everyone can pursued large groups of people. Heck, I know people that can't even covince themselves of things that they know are true. There is one particular species of human who have mastered this art, THE TEENAGE BOY. They have perfected and evolved this art into more of a science. This species have learned to appeal with logical, emotional and statistical appeal. it is  true talent, and they have larned to use it on every other human type except one....there is one immune group.... Fathers.

Chief Rya

If I had to choose to be apart of either the Navajo, Onodoga, or the Modoc; I would choose to be apart of the Navajo tribe.  I would choose them because they believe in power of numbers and that makes a lot of sense to me! Even at a young age, your told "don't go alone", "hold my hand", "two is better than one" and all those cliche sayings. I'll admit that I feel safer when I have another person with me, not even that they could protect me but just to have someone's presence. Being alone isn't fun, and so I would definitely have to pick the Navajo.
